The Impossible Works of Raed Yassin and Solo Double Bass, Raed Yassin in Marsèlleria, Milan

On the 10th and 11th of June, Marsèlleria – in collaboration with Fantom – invited Raed Yassin to enact, for the first time in Italy, the performances “The Impossible Works of Raed Yassin” and “Solo Double Bass”.

The ongoing performance “The Impossible Works of Raed Yassin”, involving the curators Ilaria Bonacossa, Eva Fabbris and Francesco Garutti, investigates ways of conversation between artist and curator and explores the potential of this collaboration, using speech as a medium to produce “impossible” works. The sound performance “Solo Double Bass” presented the public with the musical side of Raed Yassin’s work.

Raed Yassin was born in Beirut in 1979. He graduated from the theatre department at the Institute of Fine Arts in Beirut in 2003. An artist and musician, Yassin’s work often originates from an examination of his personal narratives and their workings within a collective history, through the lens of consumer culture and mass production. He currently lives and works in Beirut and is represented by Kalfayan Galleries (Athens – Thessaloniki).
