Fabrizio Bellomo, Es geht einfach um Nummer
Metronom gallery in Modena is hosting Fabrizio Bellomo’s exhibition Es geht einfach um Nummer, curated by Luca Panaro. The title, Es geht einfach um Nummer [They are just numbers], is the main clue the artist gives us for what may be considered a decodification work, and on the other hand as a reconstruction of an abstractional project, brought roughly until the limit.
Charmed from the very beginning by the abstract geometry and by Bauhaus’ works, Bellomo has started to collect many proof sheets, founded inside laboratories and press centres, where he had been for professional reasons.
«The main reason of this fascination is probably in the conscience I have gradually gained that the abstraction has grown side by side with the emergence and the rising of the industrialisation of the machine, and afterwards of the digitalisation» said Bellomo. The proof sheets for the press process, normally intended to the retting ground, became an idea and an occasion to reflect on production technique and on the general process of imagine generation during the digital era.
The exhibition is conceived as a whole installation that consists of many parts, many squares we may say, trying to build together a wider picture of connections and conversions, starting from the codification technique of the colours inside a modular and numeric system.
The viewer should find the task to collect all the clues Bellomo has given, inside an exercise that is thought to be conceptual, more than just formal.
Contextually to the exhibition, the third edition of the annual conference Generazione Critica – to which Bellomo participated last year – will take place on October 23-24, revolving around the relationship between the new media and contemporary artistic processes.
